Moved to Belleview, Chautauqua Co. from Illinois in late 1870. James b. 1836 Wigtownshire, Scotland/wounded in Civil War/Illinois Volunteers Reg. 30 Co. G/died bet 1883-1900 probably ChautauquaCo, KS. James built Eagle Hotel in Chautuaqua Springs, KS. He and brother John both kept Civil War daily journals (I have copy of James'). Both served in same regiment and company.
Mary Ann b 1829, Ireland - Married first to James' brother William b 1851, Scotland, who died 3 mos after enlisting in Ill. Vol. Second marriage to Unknown Brown. Third marriage to William's younger brother James.
Children (James was their uncle, legal guardian, and step father) were Robert T., Agnes E., John, George, Margaret Calista, James O., Helen Nora (Ellanora). Only child known of James & M.A. was Bruce, buried 1874 in Oak Creek Cemetery, Belleview.
