My three sisters and I were all born in Emporia,KS, the daughters of John and Mildred (Worley) Klem who were botn life-long residents of Lyon Co. Our paternal grandparents were John and Carrie (Lown) who moved from IL in 1911 and settled on the old Eli Fowler farm, about 9 miles southeast of Emporia where they lived for the rest of their lives. Our maternal grandparents were Augustus Henry (Gus) born in Iowa and Emma (Holdinghausen) Worley who was born in or around Bushong, KS. They lived and raised their family at Allen, KS until grandfather's death in 1939 at Admire,KS; grandmother then moved to Emporia and lived there for the rest of her life. They are buried in the Allen Cemetery. I have practically no information about my maternal grandparents and very little of my paternal grandparents except my memories as a child.
