Our ist Family reunion will be in Detroit Michigan in July 2010. Looking for info on Robert Bruce Smith( my grandfather) born December 6 1893 married Goldie Bond (my Grandmother) in approx. 1910 Robert was sentenced to 25years in the state penitentiary and was pardoned in 1952 and died in Feb. 21, 1965. Robert Smith's father(my great grandfather) was Samuel Smith born in Alabama in March 1845 Samuel married Amy Clendenen (my great grandmother)who was born in Tennessee. The Smiths settled in Columbus Cherokee, Kansas and had 5 children Lillie Smith, Emma Smith, Eva Smith, William Smith and Robert Smith (my grandfather). Looking for any Smith's or Bond's who are related to Robert Smith aka Rab. Robert and Goldie had 8 children Robert Jr, Mary, Charles, Warren, Vivian, Maxine, Melvin and Marva Smith (my mother) all now deceased. Samuel Smith...born in Alabama in 1845..served in the Navy Under Captain Charles McClung. Amy (Clendenen) Smith...born in Tennessee...died in Kansas City while living with her daughter Emma at the age of 78 on January 5 1928. Robert Bruce Smith... Goldie (Bond) Smith...moved to Leavenworth Kansas after the Robert went to prison...in 1940's she took her children and moved to Detroit, Michigan where one of her brother's lived, his name was Pearl Bond. We are and African American family. Through some family research we know their is mulatto some where in the family.
