Visit this link at the Johnson County Library. Select the right tab in the lower left side of the screen. Searching on SECREST using Surname should give you 22 results.

In the results list click on the More Details link to see how to request a copy of the obituary. Clyde is not listed in the index because he died in 1968.

The index is composed of two parts. The first is a still active listing, begun in 1976, of the obituaries of Johnson County residents published in the Kansas City, MO TIMES and STAR newspapers.

The second part of the index is composed of obituaries published in the various county newspapers. This index continues to expand as more of the newspapers are indexed for obituaries.

Jessie S. died in 1986 at the age of 102.

After you are done with the obituary index, click on the LOCAL tab a few places to the left of the obituary tab. Then click on the Johnson County Cemetery Transcriptions. Then take a look at the listing for Edgerton Cemetery. There should be at least 29 SECREST buried there. There is also 1 SECREST buried in the Olathe Cemetery.

When you get to a certain cemetery page, click on the index link on the top right portion of the page. When you get to the SECREST listings, you can click on the photo reference to see a photo of the headstone. Get Clyde's actual death date and you can request the library to look up his obituary also.

Hopefully the obituaries will give you some local names of descendants.
