I'm looking for any information on the Smelser family of John Jacob Smelser b. July 1853 Rockport, MO / Atchison County, MO and Mary Alice "Alice" Hurst Smelser b. 5 Sept 1858 Corning, Holt, Missouri. John Jacob reportedly died in Mankato, Jewell County, Kansas on 7 Jan 1917 and I must assume that he was buried there as well. Looking particularly for an Obituary. His sister, Sarah E Smelser Hurst, wife of Mareen Devon Hurst, is buried in Norton County, KS (2 counties west) near Densmore, KS.
