My Great Great grandfather made a 6 week excursion into KS and OK from MO in 1900. He writes, "...stopped for dinner then went to Eureka, crossed the Fall River and camped the night. Was very rough country. West to a little town ten miles south west of flint hills and Choothau and camped on ??? creek in picnic grounds at a stone bridge."
Can anyone help me figure out the name of the "little town", where are the "flint hills" and where is "Choothau", and what "creek", what "picnic grounds" and what "stone bridge". His spelling was very bad so Choothau could be something different.
We are planning a re-inactment of this trip sometime this summer and could sure use some help from someone local!
Thanks!
