John Milner Best died in Ontario, Kansas Territory, on 24 September 1859, aged 54 years. His death notice appeared in a newspaper in the New York town where he had been living. No other details are given, however.
I am trying to find out anything I can about his death and what he was doing in Kansas. His wife and most of his family were still in New York, although two sons, John Milner Best and Thomas Benjamin Best were living in Leavenworth, Kansas at the time.
Can anyone suggest any avenues I might explore?
