Hello Amy,
I am wondering if we arn't researching the same Kramer line. I have been researching three Kramer brothers that were born in Reudern, Wurttemberg, Germany. All three of them, their wives, and children, left Germany in 1853-55, and moved to Iowa. One, John Michael. settled in Elk River Twp., Clinton Co., Iowa, raised his family there, and died there. The second, Ludwig, moved from Iowa to Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, and finally Colorado, where he raised his family and died. The last, Christian Bernhardt, or Bernhardt as I find on legal records, left Iowa for Missouri, and was in Independence, Missouri in 1860. He was married to a Barbara Huss, or Barby on the census, and had two sons as of 1860. Bernhardt and John. In 1860 Bernhardt Sr. was listed as 35, Barby at 31, John 8, Bernhard Jr. as 6, Fredrika 4, and Barby 2. The first four were born in Germany, and the last two in Iowa. Does this fit in with your Kramer Line???? If so, I have information back to 1751 in Germany, and up to the present on the lines of John (of Iowa) and Ludwig (of Colorado. Anxious to hear from you and compare notes. Willing to share. Thanks in advance for your time. Dick Schack at rfschack@worldaccessnet.com in Vancouver, Washington
