John B. WEYTHMAN and his wife Francis Watterer Weythman moved in to Doniphan County from just across the Missouri River and established a home near Wathena. John died in 1889, Francis in about 1870 after having 11 children and adopting 3.

The first of their children who was born in Wathena was my grandmother Anne Elizabeth. When she was born, the Weythman family was visited by the Rollier family, who must have been neighbors, anyway, the first Rollier child who was born near Wathena was Louis Kossuth Rollier. On the day the Rolliers went to see the new baby, my Grandfather, William Tell Rollier, looked at baby Anne and said, "I'm going to marry her when she's old enough!" And he did, down in Sumner County as most of the two families waited for the Cherokee Strip to open.
