William Henry Reed and his family moved to Hendricks Twp., Chautauqua Co.from Labette Co. in 1876 where family presence was recorded in the 1880 Federal Census. Mr. Reed was born in Fayette Co., OH 13 Oct 1837, the son of William Harper and Nancy FARIS (ELLIS) REED. He, m.Sarah Ann PINKNEY in Moultrie Co., IL 12 Oct 1859. Sara Ann, b. 6 Feb 1842, Coles Co., IL, one of two dau. of Willson and Mary Jane(MARTIN) PINKNEY. Their children were Allen F., Margaret Jane, Susan Martha, Sarah Emma,(first white child b. in Labette Co., 23 Oct 1867), Alice Josephine, Ed LOOMAN and Fred PINKNEY, (twins) Lily May and William Robert, b. Chautauqua Co.25 Dec 1878. William Robert died 13 Jul 1879 of cholera. Sarah Ann REED, d.in child birth 28 Sep 1879 and is presumed buried in Hendricks Twp.
