I am seeing descendents of Elbert and Emma Holt who married in early 1870s in Emporia,Kansas. Emma was raised as Emma Rhodes, daughter of Methodist minister, P.T. Rhodes. However, she was adopted by the minister and his wife, when her father and mother had died, leaving her orphaned at about age 5. She was born Emma Tupker in Missouri. She was aware of her beginnings because she signed for her inheritance when she became of age and the papers are on file in a guardianship record.

Family lore said that Emma and her husband may have moved to Oklahoma or she moved to Oklahoma and married, but that may be incorrect....instead I believe it was that she moved to Kansas and married. However, I am willing and ready for any info that shows them moving to Oklahoma....I'd WELCOME it.

Emma and her family have been lost to us since then and only we only recently discovered that she existed.

I know she had at least three children because of the 1880 census. One was named Eddy. I will be posting other information about the other names at another time.

If anyone is interested in Emma or knows of the Holt family involved, I'd love to hear from you.

I am in particular interested in burial info for this family, and contact with descendents.
