I have been hunting for my grandfather for years. His name was FRANK W. SIMMONS and he was born either in 1903 or in 1901 - supposedly he was ten years older than my grandmother who was born in 1913. Frank (his full name is supposedly Francis Willard Simmons)married VELDA MAE ALISON ca 1928(?) and they had two daughters - Barbara Alison Simmons born in 1932 and my mother, Frankie Ruth Simmons born in 1933 in Winfield, Cowley County, Kansas. Frank and Velda were divorced (Hamilton County, Kansas courts)when my mother was only 2 years old. She only saw her father once - when she was ten years old and that was somewhere in Oklahoma when she visited an aunt. In about 1952 he tried to contact my mother's sister, Barbara, but she refused to see him out of loyalty to her mother. She later regretted that she did not see him. He disappeared from their lives. There is a possibility that he remarried and had other children. In 1952 he was living in Winfield, Cowley County, Kansas. We know that he was in World War II in the navy and was living in California at that time visiting a brother, Leo "Chick" Simmons. I have had absolutely NO LUCK in tracing either Frank or his brother. I would certainly appreciate any clue I might find as to my grandfather's whereabouts. Does anyone living in Cowley County remember Frank W. Simmons? He had a glass eye according to my grandmother. He is a big mystery in my family. I do know who his parents were - JAMES MARK and MARTHA MERRIAH (SMITH) SIMMONS.
