I am trying to trace the ancestry of my grandmother, whose maiden name was Nancy Catherine Lahman. Her grandmother was a Mrs. Catherine Lahman, who had a son before she lost her husband (Lahman). Mrs. Lahman subsequently married again this time to a W. H. Sommerville in 1860 in Oskaloosa Iowa. The son (Lahman) married and fathered three daughters
Nancy Catherine Lahman, Mamie Lahman and Maude Lahman. They moved to WaKeeney KS and I have Nancy Catherine Lahman's certificates to teach in Trego County in 1886 and in Graham
County in 1885. I have no information about her mother and nothing about her father other than that his name was Lahman.

I also have a certificate to teach for Ira W. Upshaw in Trego County in 1887. They married somewhere sometime around this date and subsequently moved to St. Louis MO, where Ira studied and practiced medicine. I do not know if Ira W. Upshaw was born in Kansas or moved there at a young age. If I could find information about his Kansas connection I would be grateful to have that. I have his
ancestry, however.

Nancy Catherine Lahman died in St. Louis in 1923.

If I could find some records perhaps in Trego County that would show where and when Nancy Catherine Lahman was born and anything about her (Lahman) ancestry, I would indeed be grateful for that help.
