I descend from Thomas J. Piles and Elizabeth Critser who were married in Chase County in 1867. Thomas was the son of David and Syntha/Sintha (Vales) Piles. Elizabeth was the daughter of William and Sarah (Todd) Critser. Thomas and Elizabeth had nine children: Emma Elizabeth (m. Park); Martha Melissa (m. Longfellow); William Thomas (my g-grandfather m. Patton); Esta C., Richard Jefferson (m. Andrews-Crawford); Daniel Edwin, David (m. Hanson), Esther Margaret (m. Shaft), and Alice Marion (m. Gresham).
