Interested in any information re Alfred
MAXSON, a Civil War veteran who came to
Labette County from Van Wert County, OH with
at least two sons, Leander Adolphus and Hugh.
They were Quakers. Both sons lost wives in
Kansas. Hugh married "Belle" on 26 Aug 1875
in Labette Co.; she died 28 Feb. 1877. I
have no further information concerning Hugh,
and would be interested to know if he has any
descendents. Adolphus' wife, Ellen (Ella)
Sternman (or Sterrman), died in 1882,
supposedly in a fire; he returned to OH with
his two young sons, Elmer (b. 1875) and
William Levi (b. 23 April 1878). Alfred died
