Robert Henry NEWTON was born about 1818 in North Carolina. At some point in his youth, he moved to Tennessee (county unknown). There around 1840, Robert married Martha C. ROWE or ROE. Their first child, Periander C. Newton was born in Robinson County, Tennessee in 1842. Robert moved his family to Logan County, Ky. in the winter of 1844 where a second son, Samuel Theodore NEWTON was born in 1845 and a daughter, Sarah was born in 1847. Around 1848 or so, the family moved again and this time, it was to Holt County, Missouri, where Eliza was born in 1849. The family appears on the Holt County, Missouri 1850 Federal Census (Dist. 38 page 95b). After farming one year in Holt County, Robert took the management of the Government Mission Farm at Highland, Kansas, one year (the Indian School). Robert next farmed in De Kalb County, Missouri, and then moved to Buchanan County where he remained until he came to Kansas March 12, 1855, and settled one mile and a half from Atchison City.

I'd love to discover the spouses of these others, their children, and any other interesting tidbits. Also, if anyone knows anything about Martha C. (ROWE or ROE) NEWTON, I'd love to get some sort of clue about her ancestry as well. Thanks
