The book you need to find is "Tombstone Inscriptions Labette County, Kansas"
by Tina Rice and Wanda Houts, 2 volumes, published in 1986.

From searching the web, I have found this book in the following libraries:
Parsons, KS; Coffeyville, KS; Topeka/Shawnee County, KS; Wichita, KS; and
Mid-Continent, Independence, MO. It is also possible that other libraries in
Labette County Kansas have the book, but their catalogs are not on line.

I know you will also be interested in getting obituaries when you obtain the
death dates. Basically all newspapers published in the state, since 1861,
have been micro filmed. All of the films are available for inter library loan
from the Kansas State Historical Society.

For starters, I recommend that you visit the USGenWeb page for Labette
County:

http://www.ksgenweb.org/labette/index.html

clicking on "Local Sources" will give you contact information the Labette
County Genealogical Society, as well as all the county libraries. There is a
link to the Parsons Library from this page. You may want to e-mail them and
request a look up in the book. Also request that they check for obituaries.
They may or may not have newspaper microfilms. If they can only give you the
dates, you may want to try the Altamont Library. They may have copies of the
microfilms for the Altamont paper.

On the same page, if you click the link to the genealogical society, you
will see that Tina Rice is a member and does research for a fee. You may
want to engage her to check for where your Daniels are buried and also
search for obituaries.

Another possible source, for the Daniels burial locations, is the
Mid-Continent Library in Independence, MO. They will accept e-mail requests
for look ups in indexed sources. Here is the home page link:

http://www.mcpl.lib.mo.us/

On this page click the link to "Genealogy and Local History", then at the
bottom right click the link to "Submit Your Query" and follow the
instructions. They will not be able to check for obituaries as they do not
have the newspaper microfilms.

If you want to search for the obituaries your self, you will have to have
your librarian ILL the microfilms from the Kansas State Historical Society.

This link to their search page for newspaper microfilms. Leave the city
selection blank, select Labatte County, and enter the years of interest. If
you know the death date, just enter that year in FROM and the next year in
TO. The results page will list all papers in the county micro filmed for the
time period specified. You will need to copy the information for the papers
you want and give it to your librarian. Also check the link to the KSHS
"interlibrary loan polices". You will find it on the search page.

I know this is a bit long winded, but I want to suggest several ways to find
the information you are searching for. If you have any questions, let me
know. I will also be posting a copy of this as a response to your query on
the query board.
