Hi Judy,

I also descend from Frederick Saum, the only child that Nicholas Saum had with his first unknown name wife. She apparently died shortly after Frederick's birth. Frederick was b-Feb. 16, 1762 in Frederick Co. MD & d-Jan. 23, 1849 in New Market Township, Highland Co. OH. Frederick married Catherine Caley in 1794 & they had 7 children, the 2nd, George Adam Saum is who our lines continue through. George married Susannah Henderson & their 1st born was our Charles Frederick Saum b-1822. It's possible he had a twin, as the next born, Jacob is also listed with an 1822 birth date.

Now it's Charles Frederick & 2nd wife, Mary (Bardell)Saum who were definately in Kansas. Both died in Lawrence, Douglas Co. he in Nov. 1887, she in 1890. I descend from their 2nd born, Randolph Foster Saum & Mary Talbert. You descend from Charles' 1st wife, Mary Elizabeth Shawver & their only daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Saum b-Jan. 12, 1844. Mary died on May 30, 1846 when Sarah was just 2 yrs. old, so I rather imagine that my g-g-grandmother Mary (Bardell) raised your g-g-grandmother Sarah Elizabeth.

My Randolph Foster & Mary (Bardell) Saum family ended up in Paradise, Russell Co. KS after all 9 of their children were born in other parts of Kansas. They are both buried in Mount Hermon Cemetery in Paradise, as are many other Saum family members. There are also Saum family members buried in Natoma Cemetery in Natoma; Crown Point Cemetery in Ottawas Co.; Pleasanton Cemetery in Pleasanton...all in Kansas.

Any Saum descendants are welcome to join our family page at MyFamily.com but because it is a private, password protected, by invitation only site, you have to be invited by any member from the site. I am one of the site co-administrators. Anyone who is interested, please contact me by e-mail at: doubleeaglette@juno.com
