I think this murder occurred about June-Aug 1921. I'm seeking the exact date this occurred; the newspaper article about this murder and the cemetery where the victims are buried. Kirk FIELDS was 20 years old in 1921 when he 20 yr old married friend, Howard UTT left Joplin, Jasper co, MO and went to Wichita, Kansas to work in the wheat harvest. Kirk FIELDS was the oldest of 5 children and his father, Charles Henry FIELDS was dying of tuberculosis in Joplin, MO. In Wichita, KS both boys were robbed and beaten and placed on the Santa Fea railroad tracks and run over; their bodies were mutilated. Howard UTT was identified by his wife and Kirk FIELDS was identified by his fiance's friend. Both boys were buried in the UTT family cemetery plot. Because Kirk's father was dying, none of his family were able to attend his funeral. The day Kirk FIELDS was buried his father died. The year was 1921 but I don't know the month or day.
