My g,grandfather, Joseph Spiker and grandfather, John Wilvey Spiker immigrated into Brown Co. in the late 1870's and then on to Jackson Co. where the lived for the remainder of their lives and are buried there. It is my understanding that they came from Illinois to possibly work on the railroad although they were farmers by trade. It is my understanding that they settled west of Horton and maybe in the Mercer area. I am interested in the time that they spent in Brown Co. Other children of the Joseph Spiker family that came about the same time are Alfonsene, who married a Mescher, Parthenia, who married Sylvester Butler, Arthur Carneliave, who married Martha Scott, Cloea Annetta, who married Steven Johnston, Josephine, who died in 1881 at the age of 18 and is buried in a cemetery in Mercer, Milton Leslie, who married Mary Malinda Foster, Clarence Edwin, who married Rebecca Elizabeth Brooks and Martha Bell, who married William Walter Wing. Any information about or direction as to where I could find information on the Spiker's in Brown Co. would be greatly appreciated.
