I completed my BA and MA and Emporia State. Currently I am a PhD candidate at KU. My dissertation topic centers on a case study of anti-horse thief vigilantism that occurred in Butler County, Kansas in late 1870. One of the unfortunate victims of the violence was the former Madison/Lyon County resident, William G. Quimby. He had relocated to Butler County in 1870. Quimby and his family are listed in the 1860 Madison Co. census and the 1870 Lyon Co. census. Any information any might have concerning this family would be greatly appreciated.
