I am looking for any info regarding several peoples in Lawrence KS:
Lizzie LEARNED married Mahlon K MOORE 1/1/1860, by Rev H H MOORE at the Methodist Church.
She died in Denver CO 3/1862.
Husband/widower Mahlon K MOORE had property in an island, maybe known as ADDIS area, above Lawrence toward LeCompton. He was shot and killed 2/1872 in a cattle dispute at GIVEN's mill. Henry LEARNED, older brother of Lizzie, was admin of MOORE's estate.
In 1877, the brothers and sisters of Mahlon MOOORE filed a petition in court to have Henry removed as admin because he could not pay the debts of Mahlon and had left the state for business in CO. Henry was in the mining business.
I found him on 1880 Census in Lawrence with wife, a dau-L
Emeline and her 2 sons.
Can anyone help me find out what happened to MK MOORE estate? And any info on Henry LEARNED or his sister Lizzie(Elisabeth Sophia) born in Cambridge, MASS?
Mahlon MOORE was a brother of my gr2grandmother and was born in PA.

Also:
A nephew of Mahlon, George W SAVAGE, started an iron works in Lawrence - Douglas Co Iron Works- in 1882 with his bro-in-law Dutton LIGHTCAP, also from PA. George had gone to CO to study mining machinery in 1880 and took a job on the Denver/S Park railroad line, later bought by Union Pacific.

I wonder if this is a connection with Henry LEARNED in CO, who was in the mining business? Geo
W SAVAGE's iron co was on corner of Pinckney and New Hampshire in Lawrence, which I think now is the local newspaper office site for the Lawrence Daily News or whatever the current name is! Can anyone contact that newspaper for any historical information on the Douglas Co Iron Works, later bought by Usher Iron Co and then Bowerstock? City Directory shows him also in an office at 910 Mass Ave, but that is now a parking lot! I was just in Lawrence this summer!

Geo W SAVAGE, MAHLON MOORE and other relatives are buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.
Thanks anyone!
