I believe Isaac to be the son of my ancestor Amaziah Wescoat/Westcott/Wescott but I need proof. Amaziah lived in Ontario and Niagara Counties, NY. He was living in Niagara Co., NY when Isaac was to be born in 1822. They moved to Crawford Co., PA. Family story is that Isaac moved "west". His obit states he married a Miss Elizabeth Wescoat. I found Isaac and Elizabeth in the 1850 census in Bureau Co., ILL. A son named Amaziah is a shown and also a man named Obadiah Wescott is shown as living with them. This Obadiah may be a brother as my Amaziah had a brother named Obadiah who died in 1813, Amaziah probably named a son after his dead brother.
Miss Elizabeth Wescoat could be a 1st or 2nd cousin of Isaac that he married. Several other of the Wescott people married their cousins.
I would to hear from anyone knowing of this KS family.
Also, would anyone know if there is a tombstone for Isaac. I now live down here in Hays, KS and I would live to visit the area. Thank you in advance. Betty Macdonald
