I am interested in the Forbes family that lived near Silver Lake before and after the turn of the 20th century. I think the father was either Robert or Charles and the mother was Ida (Sprague) from Homer, NE. They were married in 1890 in Homer. They had several children, three of the girls were Hazel, Clara, and (Frances)Viola. Hazel was killed as a young woman, along with a family dog. I don't know when or the circumstances of her death. She worked at Harry Endlist's store in Topeka in 1924 (I have a photo of Harry in the store with the employees). Clara married Frank Chapman and I believe lived in Silver Lake for some time, then in Topeka where she was a seamstress for some of the fine department stores for many years. Viola married Frank Eshom in 1921, and went to California where their baby, Francis Melvin Eshom, was born. I am most interested in the story of Hazel and the dog dying at the same time. I have a photo with a young Melvin Eshom with a dog, and on the back it says "Melvin with the dog that died with Hazel." Are there any Forbes's left in the Silver Lake area?
