I am researching my Slane/Simmons ancestors who lived in Jefferson Co., KS. My g-g-grandfather was Collin Thomas Slane. George Washington Slane and his family, whom I believe to be cousins, also lived in Jefferson Co. in Nortonville. Collin was a 2nd Lieut in Co. A of the 11th Cavalry Reg from Ks during the Civil War. He married Nancy Katherine Simmons daughter of Alpha Simmons and Frances Bays in 1867. Their son John Henry was my g-grandfather. Any information would be helpful and I am willing to share.
