Hello! I just found this board, and have a question for you all. My great-grandfather spent most of his life in Logan County, IL, but in 1878 he sold all his property in Logan Co. The sale is notarized in Lyon County, where he had apparently moved with his wife Maria (Mary) Roos Stoll. Was there a land rush at that time? I had never heard he had moved to Kansas, but a relative was going over the land records in Logan Co. and gave me this information. By 1883 he was back in Illinois, so it was a fairly brief stay, but I'd love to know WHY he was there. In the 1890s, they moved to Wilton, IA and then Mitchell, SD, so maybe he just liked trying new places?

Thanks for any light anyone can shine on this.
