James Cobin HUMPHREY b. 1845 Halton Co., Ontario. d. 1910 Belleville, Republic Co., KS. Arrived Belleville about 1868. Married first Eliza Jane COUNTER, 2nd her sister Annie Sophia COUNTER.

James opened the first newspaper in Republic Co. "The Telescope" and is still in operation by the Miller family. Children were:
Eliza Jane b. 1870 d/o Eliza Jane COUNTER
Charles Franklin b. 1873, s/o of Annie COUNTER
Adela Gertrude b. 1878 d/o of Annie COUNTER

Parents of Eliza and Annie was Charles COUNTER (1819-1887) and Jane Adalaide WATTS (1826-1884)
