My grandfather was Charles Sylvester Venard. He lived in Iola and worked as a builder/carpenter for many years. He had a hand in some of the buildings that still stand in Iola. He married Cora Ellen Roberts, who taught school in and around Iola, Gas City, La Harpe, Garnett, etc., for quite some time before they were married. My mother and her siblings were born and raised in Iola -- Evelyn, Glennis, Kenneth, Shirley, Robert, and Richard Venard. Some of these people are buried in the Highland Cemetery in Iola.

If anyone knows anything about any of these people or where I might get my hands on any references about them while they were in Iola, I'd appreciate it very much.
