The priority (and mind set) of the librarian managing thousands of volumes, _must_ be the classification of those volumes for placement onto physical sections of a shelf, so as to maximize the ease of use of those volumes. (Hence the Dewey Decimal System, etc.) The physical locations housing internet files is irrelevant. That's the beauty of HTML coding.

It is ridiculous for someone to use the many hours necessary to move the files to a separate directory. The links handle that. That time could be better used transcribing data.

I'm sure that the person generating this resolution is feeling frustration at not being able to easily determine when a new link should be set up. And, consequently is only trying to facilitate the process of setting up the links.

I'll bet there are days that Cyndi Howells wishes she had more control over the links on her list. I'll bet it doesn't keep her awake at night though!

It appears that this is just another "control" issue in the making. I'm not going to turn over the files that I have begged and pleaded for. I am the person the submitter will turn to should an email address need to be changed. I am the one they will complain to when it isn't done in a reasonable amount of time. I'm also the one they will write to when they are looking for some information. That's why I try to keep track of the material available for "my" counties.

Once again, I'm glad I'm participating in the Ks. project, because we have established some degree of control over _our_ project.

If the USGW Archives manager can't handle it, perhaps someone else should be the Archives manager.
