Notes on George Manley

1. Obituary in The Lakin Independent, Lakin, Kearney County, Kansas on Friday 8 May 1931. George Manley was born in Bunker Hill, Illinois, December 10, 1859, and died at Deerfield, Kansas, May 4th, 1931; age 71 years, 5 months, and 24 days. As a young man he came to Circleville, Kansas, where he was united in marriage with Miss Jessie M. Eaden, March 7th, 1900. Eighteen years later the family came to Deerfield, where they have since made their home. Five children were born to this union, two girls and three boys, who, together with his wife, remain to mourn his departure. The children are Mrs. J.D. Courrier, Pamona, California; Clifford G. Manley, Ralph S. Manley, and Carle E. Manley, all of Deerfield; and Margaret Dorithy of Ulysses. The deceased became a member of the Christian Church in 1900 and remained loyal to that church until his death. He was a highly respected Christian, faithful and regular in attendance of church services as long as his health permitted. He was also a member of the Woodmen Lodge. Mr. Manley was a good husband, a kind father, a highly respected citizen, beloved by all who knew him. He left a fine heritage to his children. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. R.a. Corrie at the Deerfield Methodist Church, Tuesday afternoon, May 5th. Burial was made in the Deerfield Cemetery.
