I am interested in locating Clay SMITH who was born about 1853 in either Kansas or Missouri. Clay SMITH was found in the 1875 Kansas State Census in Atchison County with his wife Elizabeth and 6-month-old son, Peter F. SMITH. In the 1880 U.S. Census, the Clay SMITH family is located in Doniphan County.

Family lore tells me that Clay SMITH's mother's name was Mary MARTIN. I do not know his father's name. His in-laws were John A. and Celia Ann BLACK of Andrew Co., Missouri.

Does anyone have a connection? I have not been able to find Clay SMITH prior to 1875. Thanks in advance.
