Miles REED,who was born to Isaac REED and Melissa HAZEN, in Geauga County, Ohio in 1834, moved to Riley County from Monterey, Allegan County, Michigan, in 1870 where he ran the hotel in Manhattan. His family moved thereafter.

His wife, Polly ANWAY, was born to David ANWAY and Charlotte SALES, in Wyandot County, Ohio in 1833 and married Miles in Monterey, Allegan County, Michigan December 31, 1854.

Their children, who were born in Allegan County, Michigan, were: Mary, Myron, Lester and Wilbert.

Both Miles and Polly are buried at Sunset Cemetery.

Wilbert married Ella HARRISON, who was born to Jeremiah HARRISON and Elizabeth Jane KIRKLAND, in Manhattan July 31, 1890. Their children were: Elizabeth Kirkland (who married Claude BURKES); Winston; Charles Ewing (who married Gladys EKBERG); Eunice Helen (who married John R. KIRKLAND); Harrison (who married Elizabeth Mae RICHARDS); Myron Wilbert; Mildred (who married Benjamin Franklin HICKS); Leslie Noel (who married Eleanor Ruth COLONY); Francis Lyle (who married Mildred NEUSBAUM).
