My maternal grandfather was John Carl Spickler, born 1881. I can document that he owned a quarry, Deer Creek Quarry, in Topeka, Shawnee County, Kansas. His wife was Mabel Johnson. They had a daughter Marjorie Mae Spickler, born 1 September 1921, at Stormont Hospital in Topeka. At that time they were residing in the Thomas Page (owner of Page Flour Mills) home at 831 North Quincy Street, Topeka, although their residence on my mother's birth certificate is listed as W 6 (or possibly W 16). The elder Page family had gone to Scotland at that time. My grandfather was a friend of David Gladstone Page, born 7 January 1881, and the family had asked them to stay in their house during their time away. My grandfather died 8 October 1926 and was buried 11 October 1926 in Mt. Hope Cemetery. When he died, the family lived at 914 Filmore Street. I think the Spicklers were in Topeka during 1920, but I have not been able to document this. Can anyone help me?
