I am seeking information on my Great Great Grandfather, John Jacob Miller, who lived in Independence, Kansas from ca. 1887 to his death there on November 3, 1897 (some accounts read 1894, but I believe the 1897 date).

Here is his bio from my Miller Web page:

F7 John Jacob Miller, born 2 February, 1823, died 3 November, 1897. He was born about three miles north of Gettysburg, Ohio, close to No.9 school house or Joe Halloday's farm.

Married (1) October 18, 1844 to Nancy Rohrer, born March 4, 1821, and died September 14, 1887. Ten children. Nancy was the daughter of Jacob Rohrer, born 20 August, 1781, died 16 January, 1848 and Susan, born June 10, 1781, died January 1, 1814. John married (2) Mary Michael Miller (?).

They moved on the Miller homestead in 1854 which John Jacob bought in 1853. He served in the Mexican War, 3rd Regiment, Capt. Patterson's Company, Company D, Ohio Volunteers. Buried Oakland Cemetery, Darke County, Ohio.

After his first wife Nancy Rohrer died in 1887, John Jacob Miller moved to Independence, Kansas, and remarried. He he opened a bank there. He died in Kansas in 1897, and his body was returned to Ohio for the funeral and burial in the Oakland Cemetery. His second wife was probably buried in Kansas.

The URL for his bio is:

This link will provide a context to the balance of my Miller Family history.

I would like an obit (if it exists), and information on his second wife who he (supposedly) married in Kansas in 1888. She is proportedly buried in Kansas.

Thanks very much!
