Hello, I noticed the name Greer, though it wasn't part of what I was searching for today.

Just in case this is new info:

Samuel John Greer (m. Rebecca, last name not known, alas)entered the US sometime in mid to late 1700s, and served under G Washington. Son Samuel Greer (b. 1805, d. 1855/m. Minerva Cooper, 1812-1871), Nelson County, KY. Nancy Jane Greer, a daughter (nothing else known), entered my family history at that point, by marrying Bartholomew Flaherty, b. 1824.

Nancy and Bartholomew had a son, Joseph Lee Flaherty (1847-1919) who was a sargeant in the Union Army. He married Mary Theresa Kerrick (1854-1940) was Meade County, KYs "last Civil War widow." One of their sons was my grandfather.

Anyway, perhaps some of this is helpful to you.

S. Emma Hardesty (never changed my name, though I've married twice. I deplore that women become invisible by giving up their name!)
