Most Kansas counties did not keep death records, even though they were required to by state law. The state took over the task of keeping death records in 1911. The best source in Jefferson County is the Tombstone and Burial index book. I do not know if the Jefferson County Genealogical Society is still selling the book. Some of the Probate court records are also micro filmed. The films are available from the Kansas State Historical Society or your local Family History Center.
