My great-grandparents, Louis Wise (originally Weis) and Anna Bridget Hastings, lived in Lawrence, Douglas County in the middle part of the last century, 1855-1863, then Louis was killed in the Quantrill Raid on Aug. 22, 1863. They had 5 children, and I am trying to get baptismal records from St. John the Evangelist Church in Lawrence. Unfortunately, the Church does not provide this kind of look-up service. I am in Arizona and it's not easy for me to travel there.
