Death of Mrs. Mary E. Markley

Mrs. Mary E. Markley died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. A. Turner, in Olathe, Sunday morning, aged 68 years, 8 months and 27 days. She had been in ill health from a stroke of paralysis she suffered almost two years ago, and had been an invalid and confined to her bed for that long a period.
The funeral was held at 3:00 o’clock Monday afternoon from the P. O. Coons Mortuary in Spring Hill conducted by Rev. Briggs, pastor of the Baptist church in Olathe. Burial was in the Spring Hill cemetery beside her husband, Moses Markley, who died September 24, 1920.
Mrs. Markley was the mother of 10 children and is survived by eight of them. They are Mrs. Ida Kisor of Lander, Wyo.; Albert H. Markley of Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. J. A. Turner of Olathe; Mrs. C. H. Winkler of Bucyrus; Charles M. Marklye of Ft. Washakie, Wyo.; M. G. Markley of Salt Lake City, Utah; T. J. Markley of Osawatomie and M. L. Markley of WaKeeney, Kas. She is also survived by 21 grand children and two great grandchildren.
The Markleys can to Kansas from Wyoming about 20 years ago and located near Chiles, Kas., and have lived in that community almost ever since.
Mrs. Markley was a good woman, patient and kind in her long months of suffering. She had been a member of the Baptist church since 1894.
She will be greatly missed by the members of her family and a large circle of friends.

The following towns are located in Miami County, Kansas:
Chiles, Bucyrus and Osawatomie.

WaKeeney is located in Trego County, Kansas

The southern town line of Spring Hill is also the county line between Johnson and Miami counties. I suggest that you visit the Miami County Genealogical Society web page on the USGenWeb site ( www.usgenweb.com or click on the county pages link at the top of the county names listing )and send them an email requesting look ups for the following….a full obituary for Moses, they have a massive obituary clipping file; they also have most of the county newspapers on microfilm; marriage dates for the children, death and burial information for the children and their families living in Miami County, land ownership records and will records. Note that if you send them an email or letter, it will take a couple of months before they respond.

I post a separate response to your Turner query later this week
