Seeking information re David Leander (“Lee”) McGee, m.Amanda Greenlee. David was b.abt 1843 NC. Believed to be the son of Burton McGee, b.abt 1820 NC, and Martha Unknown, b.abt 1822 TN who appear with son David L. on the 1850 Gilmer CO GA census. The David in Osage CO appears on the 1870 Osage CO census with Amanda, two daughters, one named Martha, presumably after his mother. Some sites indicate he later had a son he named Ambrose or Ambrose Burton, a son named Newton, as well as other children. Some sites also indicate that David's father Burton, presumably after the death of David’s mother, m.Narcissa Greenlee, younger sister of Amanda. Hoping to connect these McGees to the McGees of Wilkes CO NC and Gilmer CO GA, and to the McGhees of Murray CO GA, McDonald CO MO and Indian Territory. DNA testing indicates very close relationship between the Murray CO/McDonald CO/IT McGhees and the Wilkes CO McGees. As an aid, the Burton McGhee, who also named a son Newton, appearing on censuses in Murray CO and McDonald CO is not the same as the Burton McGee on the Gilmer CO census.
