I did not look up Harold's obituary because the cemetery index, and the headstone only list the year of death. You might want to contact the Lenexa Cemetery Association (at the address in Benice's obituary) to see if they have a death or interment date for him in their records. If they do not have it, try the Amos Funeral Home. You can find their address via an internet yellow pages search.

Obituary of Bernice F. (Dillon) Harvey........


Bernice F. Harvey, 88, Lenexa, KS, passed away Sunday, February 21, 1999, at Delmar Gardens of Overland Park. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, February 27, at Lenexa United Methodist Church; burial in Lenexa Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the church. The family suggests contributions to Lenexa Cemetery Association, 9334 Haskins, Lenexa, KS 66215 or the Lenexa United Methodist Church, 9138 Caenen Lake Rd., Lenexa, KS 66215.

Mrs. Harvey was born and raised on a farm near Spring Hill, KS. She lettered in basketball and track in high school. She taught all eight grades in a country school where her mother taught 23 years prior. She was a clerk for the Lenexa Post Office in 1955 and later appointed postmaster, serving 18 years until she retired in 1973. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Postal Workers, Lenexa Chamber of Commerce, former district representative to the Kansas State Silver-Haired Legislature, Lenexa Historical Society, Lenexa Pilot Club, Eastern Star, and the United Methodist Church. She also completed over 15 years (5000 hours) of volunteer work at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center, retiring in 1994. Her family and friends will always remember the Lenexa business leader as a kind lady who was well liked. She was a dedicated and generous individual with the entire community’s best interest at heart. She is survived by daughters Evelyn Armitage, Overland Park, KS, and Carol Stark, Garnett, KS; son, Dr. H. Jay Harvey and his wife and his wife (sic), Dr. Chris Bellezza Harvey, Freeville, NY; brother, Paul Dillon, Kansas City, MO; 10 grandchildren, Michael Valentine, Raleigh, NC, Tracy Katzenberger, Longmont, CO, Randy Valentine, Topeka, KS, Jennifer McIntyre, Holden, MO, Scott Valentine, Tyler, TX, Shelly Allen, Lenexa, KS, Sue Stanfield, Peoria, AZ, Katherine and Michael Harvey, Freeville, NY; 19 great-grandchildren; two nieces, Mary Jo Dillon and Judy Dowd.
