Fred Geib: 1900 census: age 55: born Nov 1844 in Germany was hotel keeper. His wife was Anna ?:born 1854 in Il: a son, Fred Jr was 16, born IL. In 1910 the census shows him age 65: still a hotel keeper on Main street: wife, Anna, now listed as born in Germany: son, Fred not enumerated with them. 1920 census he is age75: Anna is 65 and he is now a farmer but enumerated on Second St.

The son, Frederick W, married Velma Woodworth and had 2 sons, Robert Frederick and Thomas James.

Would like an obituary if available. According to family folklore he " went West to seek his fortune" and is brother of Magdalena Geib who married my gr-gr-gr grandfather, Heinrich Ehrhardt. Have not found him in IL but his son, and possibly his wife, Anna, were both born in Illinois.
