We're looking for information about several families who lived in Crawford County Kansas before and after 1900:

Charlotte (Lucky) Brown (67), living in Washington Township in 1900 with her son, William (age 21). Charlotte was the wife of Byron Stacy Brown, who no longer lived with her, but was found in AR and OK later, living with a "wife", "America Brown". Charlotte and Byron had children:
Elizabeth (25 Jan 1856 MO) m.Joseph Erasmus MILLIKEN (Nov 1848 OH); Hiram BROWN (05 Aug 1857 IL);Charles BROWN (18 Aug 1859 IL); Olive BROWN (15 Sep 1861 IL); Sara Evaline BROWN (05 Oct 1862 IL) m. Frank Charles HARDING (10 Mar 1861 KS); Arthur King BROWN (24 Oct 1862 IL) m. +Mary Evaline BYBEE (01 Dec 1868 IL); Lorin BROWN (14 Oct 1866 IL) m. Margaret WEAVER (07 Sep 1876); Harvey BROWN (15 Jan 1869); Tina BROWN (06 Dec 1871) m. Abe NAPIER (1862 IN)
Jary BROWN (07 Apr 1873); Inez BROWN (15 Dec 1876 IA) m. Beecher W. H. SEELY (Abt. 1867 IL); William C. BROWN (08 Jul 1878 KS) m. +Lillie May ESSLINGER (b.MO); James (adopted) NATMAN (02 Dec 1881)
---------------
Frank(48) and Sara Evaline(45)(Brown) Harding, living in Washington Twp in 1900 with their kids, Pearl(9), Bessie(6), Helen(4), and Albert(2). Sara Evaline was the daughter of Charlotte Lucky Brown (above).

Seely, Beecher (Oct 1866 IL)
Inez (Dec 1874 IA)
Frank (Nov 1891 KS)
Hattie (Aug 1893 KS)
Christina (Dec 1897 Ind. Terr.)
Luella (Feb 1900 KS)

Beecher Seely was the son of Samuel and Harriet Tyler Seeley, who had come from LaSalle Co IL to Barton Co KS. Inez Brown was the daughter of Charlotte Brown (above). Although the 1920 Census Lists Inez Seely as a widow, there is a listing in the Park Co Montana Death Record, noting the death of Beecher W. Seely (b. 1866) on 07 Nov 1929. We wonder if perhaps Beecher deserted the family, and Inez had him declared dead so she might be able to remarry? There is an anecdotal story that she married again to a Seabolt, but we have no such documentation.

We are always happy to share information with other researchers.

Jim Patrick
