BUSH, HALSTEAD

I would like to correspond with persons researching Robert R. BUSH or his sister Martha A. Bush, wife of Marion HALSTEAD. The Halsteads previously lived in Buchanon Co., Mo., and may have lived in Illinois also during the latter part of the civil war. Robert R. Bush was from De Kalb Co., Mo., to which he returned. The Halsteads lived in Kansas from 1871 to at least 1876. I would like to know what happened to them after they sold their land that year (which they had purchased from Robert R. Bush, who received a patent from the U.S. gov't).

My family "Harris" moved from around Bethlehem/Noblesville Indiana and settled near Altoona And Thayer in Kansas which I think is in Wilson County. G-grandfather John Jasper HARRIS and wife Caroline Virginia PERKINS HARRIS moved there after the civil war. My grandfather George Allen HARRIS was born Altoona/Thayer 7-Aug-1875. George left for Arizona, married Carmen Jerez and died in California 12-Oct-1933. Im looking for info on John Jaspers Grandfather as well as any leads at all. Clint Harris

Looking for the civil war grave of Lieutenant Miles Fleming RICHESON. Died in Fredonia, Kansas Mar. 14, 1873. Where can I find info on this grave. I am assuming that it is in Summit Cemetery in Fredonia. Is there a list of the graves in that cemetery or are there other cemeteries in that area. He homesteaded on a farm in Fredonia after the war. Query: Wilson Co. KS. My grandmother Lucy PICKETT was born 16 May 1871, Fredonia, Wilson Co. KS. Lucy aka May Lucy. Lucy married George Washington LOOKINGBILL. Lucy & family counted in 1905 Census, Girard, Crawford Co. KS. In 1910 census Lucy was not found, husband & children accounted for. School records of 1908/09 stated children of Lucy were living with her mother. What happened to Lucy. Did she return to birthplace to die or be buried? Can you please help. My ancestors Elias DENNEY,born April, 1847 & Mary Ann ADAMSON, born April 1839 Were both born in Indiana but were married in Wilson County in Duck Creek Township as found in Soundex of 1900. They had 4 children, Isaac Arthur, William Emery,born Oct 1871, Louella Jane,(my great- grandmother) and born on 3 Aug 1875, and Minnie Maude, born in 1878. I would like to know anything about this couple. William Emery married Emma BEARD, born in the Indian Territory (Watova), on 30 Dec 1883. Louella Jane married James Henry THORNTON on 20 Feb 1895 and Had 8 children born near and raised near or in Fredonia, Kansas. Mary Ann (ADAMSON) DENNEY (o Denny)'s parents were James a. ADAMSON and Rebecca ( ). They (Mary Ann and Elias DENNEY) were buried southwest of Fredonia, Ks. Any information would be appreciated.

KETCHUM: Civil War 'Home Guard' Colonel & Judge ASA CALKINS KETCHUM (1821-1881), migrated (from Ft. Smith, AR) to Neodesha, Wilson Co., KS abt 1880 and purchased a house in Neodesha. His third wife, LILLIE (BURTON) KETCHUM (1872-1924) and their children were with him: MINNIE (1875, MO), ELIZABETH (1877, MO), DAVID SENECA (1878-1879, bur Empire City, KS), & HESTER EUPHEMIA, b 26 Dec 1880 Neodesha, Wilson Co., KS. Col. Asa Ketchum was sickly and went to Chautauqua Springs, KS for his health and died there in 1881. No record/stone was found in Oak Hill Cem, Chautauqua. Where was he buried? Could it have been in Neodesha? If so, what cemetery? Any info appreciated.

OGDEN IA > KS: Jefferson D. OGDEN m. Susan Elizabeth WINTERS Feb 1875 in Washington Co., IA. This couple moved to Pleasant Valley Twp., Wilson Co., KS c. 1877. Sometime between 1889 and 1898 the family had moved to California, but returned to KS before 1900 and settled in Canville Twp., Neosho Co. Known children: E. Nellie (b. c. 1876), Flora (b. c. 1878), Wilma (b. May 1889), Hallie (b. April 1898). Seeking information about this couple and any descendants, other children they may have had, and the family's movements between 1880 and 1900.

WINTERS PA > IA > KS: Francis Jacob ("Frank") WINTERS was b. 6 Sep 1854 in Martic Twp., Lancaster Co., PA. His family settled in Washington Co., IA in 1855. Frank WINTERS is listed in the 1880 census as living with the family of his brother- in-law Jefferson D. OGDEN and his sister Susan Elizabeth OGDEN in Pleasant Valley Twp., Wilson Co., KS. His obituary reports that he drowned at Austin Mill, Neosho Co., KS on 12 Jul 1881 and left a young wife (unnamed in the obit). Searching for information about Francis Jacob WINTERS' wife and any possible descendants.

WINTERS/CARTER IA > KS: Mary Ella ("Ella") WINTERS was b. 17 Feb 1859 in Washington Co., IA. In the 1880 census she is listed as living in the household of her brother-in-law Jefferson D. OGDEN and her sister Susan Elizabeth OGDEN in Pleasant Valley Twp., Wilson Co., KS. Some time after that, (date unk.) she married M. Lindsey CARTER. They had at least the following children (birthdates unk.): Oral, Orvil, Helen, Herschel, Cora (m. CARVER), Frank. The family may have settled in Wilson Co. or Neosho Co., as I possess family pictures taken by studios in Chanute and Altoona, KS. I have not yet succeeded in finding this CARTER family in the 1900 or 1910 U.S. census. I would appreciate any information about them.

I was born in Fredonia< Kansas on 11/24/35. My mother Elizabeth WILSON, Uncle Alton Emory WILSON and Grandfather Oscar Delbert WILSON are intered in Neodesha. Kansas. I am attempting to trace both my maternal and paternal amcestors. My paternal grandparents are both intered in Chanute, Kansas. Their names are John Irvin PRUETT and Gertrude SCHRAGGE PRUETT. Looking for relatives and information about Ada WARDHAM THOMAS. Ada was born in Norway and came to the US as a young adult around 1910. After marriage to Mr. THOMAS, they lived in Fredonia, Kansas, where he was a jeweler. They had sons Richard and Ralph who were teenagers in 1932. Have no additional specifics about Ada or her family.

Looking for John CIRCLE who is listed in the "History of Wilson County, Kansas, 1902" John was the son of John CIRCLE, who died in the early 1850s in Scotland County, MO? or VanBuren Co. Iowa? After his fathers death John moved to Wilson County, where he is listed in the 1860 US Census in Wilson County. John is listed with his wife, Mary Ann Davis in VanBuren Co. Iowa April 26 1845.
They had 4 children listed in the 1860 census, Margaret 14, Charles, 12, Louis 7, William 3. He was also listed in the 1870 Woodson Co. KS census, but need to find that information. John and his family setteled at the forks of East and West Buffalo Creeks in Wilson CO abyt the spring of 1858.
Any information on John CIRCLE, his father, and any other family (Including Willaim CIRCLE, his younger brother who was in Linn County in 1860 and moved his family to Oregon by 1870) members will be appreciated.
