Robert R. Brady, who lived in the northeast quarter of section 21-24-16 established the Cherry Creek postoffice in his home on 24 February 1870. This was five miles north of 54-75 Jct. and five miles east of Yates Center, or two miles south of Vernon. Until the postoffice was discontinued about eight years later, the office of Cherry Creek was moved around to several locations over Everett township. Other postmasters were: James P. Martin, 20 March 1871.. John Eastwood, 17 July 1871.. Gilbert H. Turner, 12 Nov. 1874.. Wm. J. May, 01 Feb. 1875.. Edward Grubbs, 16 Feb. 1876. The Woodson County Post, published at Neosho Falls, gave this report: "The Cherry Creek postoffice paid a salary of 87 cents for the last quarter of 1877. It is likely that office will be discontinued and the Everett postoffice will be moved farther north" The Cherry Creek postoffice was discontinued 15 Jan. 1878 and papers transferred to Neosho Falls.
