Any other use, including publication, storage in a retrieval system, or transmission by electronic, mechanical, or other means requires the written approval of the file's author. -------------------------------------------------------------- CLAUDE Post Office The people in the Dry Creek area in the western part of the county received their mail from different postoffices in Greenwood County until 1884 when Stephen Cannon established a postoffice in his home on 06 June 1884. However, the Claude postoffice here did not last very long as it was discontinued 23 July 1884, and the papers went to Toronto. The following year Cannon was a postmaster at Toronto. The Claude postoffice, however, was re-established on 22 Sept. 1884, by Samuel C. Gustin in his home, where it was kept almost two years. On 01 June 1886, Adolphus Singleton became the postmaster of Claude and kept it in his home along Dry Creek until it was discontinued and papers taken to Quincy in Greenwood County, effective 31 October 1891.
