Early in 1869 George W. Hazlette received a patent for his homestead along the Parallel Line, 9 miles east, four south and about a quarter mile east of Yates Center. On the above date he established the postoffice in his home where mail was handled for people in that vicinity until the postoffice was discontinued 17 May 1871. There is nothing to show that a homestead ever existed on this 80 acres.
