GRANTHAM WRIGHT (JIMMIE GRANTHAM WRIGHT) Rosedale - born 1932 . From: - Linda White (Mar 18, 2000)
HI, My father was adopted by John & Hilda (Evers) Kraus. He was born Nov. 29, 1932 in Rosedale, KS. I remember seeing paperwork from the adoption as Jimmie Grantham Wright. I'm not sure about the spelling on Grantham. I'm not sure if Grantham is a middle name or a combination of 2 last names. I also am not sure how Jimmie was spelled. This is the story I have heard through my family. My father's mother was married and separated from her husband. She became pregnant by another man and later wanted to return to her husaband but was told to "he did not want the other man's baby". A visiting nurse cam by 1 day to check on the mother and I guess could tell she had just given birth, and found my father outside in a coal bin (left to die, I guess). My father was taken to a Catholic Hospital (don't know the name) and nursed by the nuns there, and later adopted by my grandmother. My father never wanted to find his family. He died in 1969 (very young) and my grandparents as well as I imagine his natural parents are also dead by now. I would still like to find their names. I heard rumors that my dad had other siblings. I guess it's just one of those things, you always just want to know who you are? I have my mother's side of the family traced back but now I want to find out more about my dad. Is it true that Kansas adoption records are open? Does anyone have any info that will help me?

He was 32 years old on this census. It says he was born in Illinois. I would like to find more information on this person. Anything that will help me research back to his parents and his own birth. Are there any employment records anywhere, that anyone would know how to locate and research? I am also aware of other Himmers in Kansas City. I would greatly appreciate any information on this family and others that anyone would be able to provide to me.
