Presentation of the Gifts was made by her granddaughters, Lisa Hardman, Laurie Clark, Leslie Wise, Shelley Wray, Aimee Wray, and Katie Brummel. Interment was in Holy Angels Cemetery. Mrs. Brummel died Thursday, April 14, at Golden Heights Living Center in Garnett. Kathryn Marie Brummel was born January 3, 1920, at Garnett, the daughter of Henry B. and Catherine (Feuerborn) Mader. She graduated from Garnett High School with the Class of 1936. Kathryn and Lester Brummel were married August 16, 1945, at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Garnett. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1969. Prior to her marriage, Kathryn worked for Dick Wycoff and in the Anderson County Treasurer’s office. During her marriage, she was a homemaker, farm wife, and mother. After her husband’s death, she returned to work at the Treasurer’s office and later, she was a legal secretary for Clark Howerton. She was a member of the Holy Angels Church and Altar Society, the Junction Needlework Club, and Business and Professional Women. Kathryn was also an avid quilter. Mrs. Brummel was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Laura Wallen; her parents, Henry and Catherine Mader; and her brothers, Mark, Frank, Walt, Luke, and Robert Mader. Kathryn is survived by her sons, Dave Brummel and his wife, Cathy, of Garnett, and Larry Brummel and his wife, Rhonda, of Bamberg, SC; her daughters, Janet Brassart of Emporia, Ruth Wise and her husband, Don, of Emporia, Karen Wray and her husband, Larry, of Olathe, Cathy Harding of Emporia, and Chris Rogers and her husband, Steve, of Topeka; her brother, Clair Mader of Garnett; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Musical selections included “In Memory”, written by Jamison Brummel; and “In The Garden”, “Ave Marie”, and “On Eagle’s Wings”, sung by her nieces and nephews. Casketbearers were Kathryn’s grandsons, Paul Wallen, Joe Brummel, Ray Brummel, Bret Wise, Taylor Brummel, Jamison Brummel and Ben Brassart. Memorials may be made to Holy Angles Church or Golden Heights Living Center. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” Page 5, Column 3: “Mary R. Setter 1912-2005 Mass of Christian Burial for Mary R. Setter, 93, rural Humboldt, was Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Humboldt with Father Thomas Scaletty celebrant. Interment was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Mrs. Setter died Saturday, April 16, at Pinecrest Nursing Home in Humboldt. Mary R. Setter was born February 14, 1912, at Colony, the daughter of Henry J. and Josie (Sullivan) Hess. She moved to Humboldt with her family from Colony when she was one year old. She graduated from Humboldt High School with the Class of 1931 and from Fort Scott Mercy’s Nursing School in the Class of 1935. Mary and Andrew H. Setter were married November 6, 1937, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Humboldt. He preceded her in death on May 31, 1988. She was a retired farmer with her husband from Setter Farms, east of Humboldt. Mary was a leader for Allen County 4-H Clubs, and loved gardening, dogs, cows, and her grandchildren. Her favorite foods were watermelon, candy, strawberries, and sherbet. Mrs. Setter was also preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Josie Hess; her brothers, James Hess and Everett Hess; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild, B.C. Ames. Mary is survived by her son, Paul A. Setter and his wife, Dorothy, of rural Humboldt; her daughter, Marita A. Lopeman and her husband, Douglas, of rural Humboldt; her grandchildren, Mike Setter, Melinda Herder, Amanda Ames, all of Humboldt, Michelle Setter of Lane, Ashlei Bockover of Pittsburg, and Andrew Lopeman of East Peoria, IL; and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to the organization of the donor’s choice.
