Fred C. Blodgett, 81, known to many as "uncle Fred" died Wednesday (April 1952) night in a local nursing home (Topeka) where he had been confined since December.
He was born in Atchison county, March 27, 1871, The son of George and Mary Cline Blodgett of Potter. He came to Topeka and owned a farm which later became part of the Security Benifit Hospital. He also owns the building occupied by Yellow Cab Co. at 419 Jackson.
He was a member of Masonic lodge 225, A. F. & A. M., and of Scottish Rite. Although he had no children of his own, he helped rear the eight children of his sister, Mrs. Lula Norris after her death. He lived with the Norris family near lake Shawnee at the time of her death.
He leaves a sister, Mrs. Josephine Ellerman of Nortonville; a brother, Luther G. Blodgett of Atchison and many nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Charles Mesigh of 327 Jewell, Mrs Frank R. Reed of 1322 Fillmore and George Norris of 916 Lana.
