James K. P. LAYMON m. Margaret WATSON in 1870. They settled in Iola, Allen, Co. I believe other relatives came there, too.

James C. BLACK (1830 IN - 1883 Allen Co.)m. Sarah E. LINDSLEY on 14 July 1875 Allen Co., KS. Their son, William, born 24 Nov 1875 in Humboldt. James marries Dorcas Elizabeth BRADY on 14 April 1877 Allen Co. When did Sarah E. LINDSLEY BLACK die and where is she buried? Her son was cared for by James and Dorcas, however, soon after James death in 1883 the boy William was taken by Sarah LINDSLEY's family. What happened to William BLACK born 24 Nov 1875 in Allen Co., KS??

I am looking for any and all information on my husbands family of POOL's. Moey Pool b. September 05, 1859 in Metcalfe, KY died November 18, 1929 while living in Iola, Kansas.

Someone sent me a copy of his obituary but I am interested in knowing more about his parents, any siblings, where he is buried, etc. His wife was still living at the time of his death and her name is Mary L. (Bullington) Pool.

I am searching for relatives and friends of Frank (Francis Gerry) and Zina (Lucas) STANFORD who lived in LaHarpe, Kansas or nearby most of their lives. Zina LUCAS was born 1899 in Bourbon County, Kansas. They married in 1919. They had no children but many relatives and friends they exchanged pictures and letters with. I am a Lucas descendent. Looking for information on John A. Trubey who died in 1944 and is buried in Iola, KS. Death Certificate says his father was Daniel, need mother's name and other family members. Also looking for information on Sarah A. Morgan Trubey who died in 1952 and is buried in Iola, KS. Death Certificate says her father was William Morgan and mother was Elenor ???. Need mother's name and other family members. One child of John and Sarah is Chester - any others?

Does anyone know about this family? Is anyone researching this family. Thanks in advance for any help.

My name is Ed Browning, my grandfather Paul Phillip Browning was raised in Chanute, his father William Allen Browning moved to Chanute from Greencastle Indiana in the 1880s'. My grandfather was the first of 10 children and the only one not born in Chanute. We believe that my great grandfather William is buried in Chanute and we know that his wife Mary is buried in Chanute. We will be traveling to Chanute around the 17th of June to do as much family history as we can. Any help in who to contact in Chanute would be helpfull.

Searching for information on descendants of Thomas and Sarah Greenfield from Humboldt Township in 1880. They had a son, Jesse b. abt. 1872 and daughter Ida b. abt. 1876. Sarah maiden name was Nichols and they were married in Macon County IL in 1870.

Russell L. Snyder was in the Us Army stationed at Fort Trumbull in Connecticut During WWI. He had two children during this time. The second child was a daughter he name was Viola Elizabeth Snyder born 23, Nov. 1915. At some point he left for Texas. And lived in the town of Brackettville. Viola's birth certificate states he was born in Portland Indiana. and he was age 22 in 1915. Please contact me if you know who this person was or have any records that pertain to him. Looking for information on Julian Custer Davis b. 10/2/1883 somewhere in KS. Part of life was in Iola, KS. He may have run for or been sheriff of Allen County in early 1900's. At least one son of Julian and Celia Ellen Davis (Hope), b. 10/28/1882 in MO, is reported to have been born in Iola, KS. Other unknown relatives may reside in that area. One surname -- Yoho.

Seeking confirmation of birth of my grandmother Pearl Mitchell, born May 8, 1902 in Iola,Allen Co., Kansas. Her father was George B. Mitchell and mother Anna Etta Bellamy. This information from my brothers baby book and was entered by my Mother, Pearl's daughter. Pearl whereabouts unknown after 1935 when her Mother died. Pearl's married name was BURNS and she lived in Sacramento, Calif. in 1935. I have been trying for 30 years to find out where she went. Can anyone help. Thank you, Diana

I am currently researching the Diebolt Family of Allen Co., KS. Lawrence Diebolt and his wife Bertha Bolz lived on a farm near the Woodson Co. Line and northeast of Piqua. Peter Diebolt and his wife Wilihelmina lived just across the line in Woodson Co. Any information that you might be willing to share would be most appreciated. Lawrence and Bertha had eleven children. Of these, Joe and Aloys continued to farm the original acerage. The third son Lawrence went into the Lumber business in La Harpe. Recently Lawrence's son Don took over the business after several successful years with the Kitchens and More store located on the square in Iola. Other family names include Tidd and Trowbridge.

I am interested in finding information on the Gilbert Wilson Gates family that lived in Iola, KS. Gilbert was the son of Jacob Hill Gates and Angeline Ross, was born 27 Jan 1866 in PA? and died 7 Aug 1933 in Iola. He was married to Amelia Wier b 29 Jul 1867 to James S Wier and Mary Steer in Trumbull Co OH. Amelia was living at 217 S Coburn St in Iola in 1935. Did she and Gilbert have any children and when did Amelia die? Any info on this family greatly appreciated.

REYNOLDS, James Francis, b 1839, Indiana, m. Mary Ann YOUNG in Iola, Allen Co. in 1865. Both died in Neosho Falls, Woodson Co.(1922 and 1927) and are buried in Cedarvale Cem. I am interested in contacting descendants of REYNOLDS/ YOUNG families. Mary Ann's parents were James Riley YOUNG and Sarah LANDERS YOUNG, early settlers in Iola, Allen Co. (Acc'd to her obit, he was 1st merchant in Iola.) I am also researching the YOUNGs and LANDERS lines. Sarah's bros. Bartlet and Arthur LANDERS were also early settlers in Allen Co.
